Went to this place with the image that we have booked a “RESORT” and will enjoy our holidays. This image went for an immediate toss when we discovered the “INTERNAL SECRETS” of this place.

Rooms were big but with proportionate dirty. The rooms were adequately dirty, bathroom was smelly, towels were washed but the soild marks were on them every here and there. Bedsheets were god knows washed or not but had dirty marks all over, which looked very offensive. Rooms were not broomed properly and there were loose hair in the room.

The beds in the rooms were equipped with home-type mattresses (talai) and we quite dint like this un-comfort during the night.

Location is ok BUT entrance is unsecured. Local boys were constantly gazing the guests rather girls in the hotel, since the hotel is built on the lower side of the road and there is not even 1% privacy. Its an Unsecured Open Air Road View Entrance to the rooms, with the bus station just above the hotel where all standing and waiting for the bus, do pass their time by gazing inside the hotel. Also the passengers in the passing by bus/trax etc gaze good and enjoy the guests staying in the hotel.

Food menu is of 14 leafs but not more than 8 items were available to order. The manager cleanly denied of having tandoor in the hotel. We were forced to take dal-fry ONLY since according to them it was freshly cooked for some other order as well (in excess), and if other things out of the given options were ordered then we will have to give them a preparation time of approximately 45 minutes to one hour.

Anyways we ordered dal-fry with chapatis along with boondi-raita. The order still came after forty minutes. The dal was dead cold and the rotis were dry. Upon our complaint we were told that it was not their fault but the boondi raita took time since they had to bring curd from the market, for making the raita. Our holiday mood went for a swing and we could hardly eat anything then, but had to pay in full for the same, which was not less than some 7 star rate.

We noticed there were in total 7 persons for these to 20 rooms resort. The same persons appeared as manager at the reception, waiters, housekeeping boys and even restaurant table cleaning boys.

In the evening when we returned from Kasauli (which is approx 8 kms, but their website says is 4.2 kms) we expected to get some snacks, if not tandoori then some regular but decent. We ordered French fries and cheese chilly. We again received the order after approx 40 minutes. The French fries were turmeric and salt smeared lousy deep-fried potato fingers, and the cheese chilly was drenched with Soya sauce which hurt our throats.

We again went to Kasauli to get some snacks and dinner for ourselves, we found a good open air food joint from where we made our snacks and dinner arrangements and came back to the resort with disposable plates etc.

We were lucky to find the owner when we came back. The owner was drunk a bit, and his friends were still in the sitting area (made for customers) drinking merrily and taking in offensive and abusive language amidst themselves without caring that there were customers around. We thought we will tell the owner about the difficulties we faced in the hotel, but to our surprise the owner picked up a fight with us only and was not at all willing to listen to any of our complaints, and on top of it all them blames were landed on-to our head like ….. Because of we ordering the Boondi-Raita the order came late and that we should have asked beforehand of the preparation time for boondi-raita, because of which the total order was delayed.

Wad a good argument over this that how can we be blamed for nothing and towards the end of the same the owner said us to check out of the hotel immediately which was approx 09:30 evening in the night, and we were in a fix as to what to do on lonely jungle roads around this resort with our children? We after all this disrespect, just because of our children dint step out of the hotel that night. But the next day we did an asap checkout.

Also :

Apart from that their website said they had: [1]Gym : Two Dumb-Bells were placed in the restaurant. [2]Carrom Board : Two dirty carrom boards were resting by the restaurant walls which were as good as not present. [3]Internet : A data card was with the owner, but the owner was not present throughout the day, in night when present was drunk and in a full mood to fight. [4]Badminton Court: In the resort adjoining lower plot, which dint even had an inch of grass path; totally muddy area of soil with two poles to ties the net – as and when required. [5] swings for children: In the same area of soil and mud as described above, had three cheap plastic glides/swings of which 1 dint work and i definitely dint let my children use because of dirt/soil there and from the safety point of view also of the swings.

I swear my life’s WORST “HEAVILY PAID” HOLIDAY. Any decent person taking children and family for an outing MUST-NOT even think of taking this hotel as a stay option. I would recommend anyone to stay in own house rather going to this place and get abused, and mentally tortured there.

We visited this hotel on the a weekend, we had booked 3 rooms. The rooms were clean and location is good but there is no tandoor menu with the hotel.

The rooms had Mini Fridge, Electric kettle. Toilets were neat and tidy. Everything was good about the room, cleanliness-wise and price-wise too. we got the deluxe room for Rs.1980 per room, and received tea refills complimentary!

[1] The hotel was approx 4-5 kms from kasauli bus stand :- for us it was worth staying here and traveling to Kasauli main. We witnessed hotels in bad shape in Kasauli cantonment area and that too with high rates.

[2] Staff was only of 6 :- it was not a problem at all since these boys were friendly and hardworking. would have been a problem if they had acted like every 2nd hotel’s staff, or if the resort was a huge one.

[3] Tandoori items were missing :- was ok for us, whatever we ordered throughout our stay, was tasty and looked hygienically prepared. we actually enjoyed this drift from tandoori to kitchen-menu for this holiday-on-hills.

:::::: These 3 things would had been a botheration, but we dint realize the same during our stay!

Final Verdict : Value for Money !

Liked — Location, price, cleanliness, food, customer friendly attitude of the staff
Disliked — 4-5 kms travel to kasauli, though it took only 10-15 mins

We tried to visit and stay in Kasauli in late December but couldn’t actually stay in Kasauli, since this hotel shivalik which told us is located in Kasauli, was located in Dharampur – entirely a different city, which is a good 13-15 kms downhill of kasauli and at-least has 3-4 degree higher temperature. Plus above the national highway with day n night highway horns and honks.

It seemed as if the hotel’s management was unrealistic to admit that it dint lie in Kasauli and this is the argument which we got into when we checked in the hotel, since the hotel advertised and even confirmed us when we were booking it, that hotel was in Kasauli. And after this argument for sure …. our trip’s entire core happiness went for a toss.

And to our amusement they dint had any shame while trying to push us and make us accept that they were located in Kasauli, told us …. “sir vo saamne wala pahaad Kasauli hai (pointed across a deep valley to some 2nd-3rd mountain), ye saara Kasauli hills he kehlata hai”

Yes there were a few good things about the hotel which i don’t feel hold any importance and everything has to be overlooked because of the shameless behavior by the hotel staff.

As a hill station, I love Kasauli. In a 7 hour drive from Delhi, you reach a totally different place… it’s such a quaint pretty town………

Baikunth is away from the main Kasauli town – I think about a 15 minute drive from the main town centre. But it is gorgeous… The rooms are wonderful, and valley view from the main garden is really beautiful – the second best view in Kasauli I think (best being the view from the Government Tourist Hotel in the Upper Mall Road).

The food and service are all ok too….it’s just that I found the tariff a bit steep …. at half the rate one can find hotels in Baikunth’s vicinity that are good rest places……

But all in all, Baikunth is very pretty, peaceful and truly a great stay option away in the hills … If you can afford it, it is a must do vacation with parents or a calm romantic getaway !

Kasauli Regency is one of the greatest places I have stayed in. It is not a very big hotel, it has about 10 rooms. We booked a honeymoon suite and a family room. Both the rooms were huge and very tastefully furnished and decorated. The staff were very friendly and we just got anything we asked for. There is a hangout restaurant on the terrace which is the best part of this hotel. There are music nights in the evening with a guitarist nemed Sanju, he plays amazing songs and also involves all the people around . He plays oldies as well as all recent bollywood songs. we just had an amazing time.

We also met a famous bollywood lyricist ‘Nilesh Misra’, he sang a few of his compilations for us like ‘jaadoo hain nasha hain’, ‘kya mujhe pyar hain’ etc. The food in the restaurant was amazing as well, I took some recipes from the chef. very homely and comfortable environment. I would recomment any one going with family or couples. And I would definitely go back.

We requested him to install a TV in the room and he bluntly said that if you want to stay you stay otherwise you can leave the hotel.
We tried to book this hotel for a weekend couldn’t get through as Kasauli is packed in June specially the weekends.
So booked Monday & tuesday.

Best thing we did was to ask the staff about the activities. Besides TT & Pool they said they can arrange a guy who plays guitar. and it was without paying extra charges. That was awesome. This place Hangout, Bar & Restaurant in Kasauli Regency is amazing. It was little cold and the view was stunning. This guy I forgot his name, ….Sahil perhaps plays very nice Guitar and also sings mostly hindi songs, also played Hotel california for us.

We were agroups of six. all of us had a very quality time at this resort. Rooms were very good in quality.
But the evening at hangout was unforgettable. Very good experience in this small hotel.

So one doesn’t get the feeling that once the sun sets, there’s nothing left to do. The food served in the in house restaurant is a banquet with a lot of variety. We stayed 4 days and ate very well every day. All in all, Kasauli castle definitely helps makes a trip to Kasauli more memorable.

I stayed here with: On a Holiday – with Family

I liked: The decor, the garden and the projector screen on which movies were screened each evening.

I didn’t like: It’s a bit of a steep climb up to the hotel entrance but well worth it.

Kasauli is a nice quiet place. Hanumanji Has kept one leg at Kasauli when he went to take Sanjivani For Laxmana. This place is called Manki Point in the Indian Airforce base station. You have walk a little from main gate of air force station & then to climb the hill of around 300 + steps. Nice view from the top.

Kasauli Castle resort is on hill and a very decent clean small resort. Management & staff is good. They organize evening movie or sports program on the projector in their small lawn. You can view the same from your room’s gallery. Other side are suit rooms having a nice view of Kasauli valley.

We stayed there for one night. Resort management is having the list of places to be visited at Kasauli. If you wish to rest then this is a good option on the way to Shimla from Chandigarh / Ambala.

Other attractions of Kasauli Sunset Point, Old British Church, Kasauli Club etc.

I planned holiday with my son and husband to small uncrowded hill station, that should be near to Delhi and mostly approachable by train due to time constraint. We took Satabdi till Kalka and then took a one hour taxi ride to reach resort.

We booked resort holiday package with meals. Although we could not find much in kasauli town itself but stay at resort were relaxing and good. Room was spacious with proper ventilation.

My son enjoyed playing at lawn area of resort with other kids staying at resort. Food was excellent with music. Package includes buffet breakfast and dinner with lot of varieties. We also enjoyed discounted use of jacuzzi, sauna and massage, although we have taken more time than paid.

We only suggest more speedy services for food etc.

We stayed here during the winter months and I must admit its a terrible hotel.Food is tasteless here and the rooms are horrible. Hotel Management turns the hot water system off so one cant have a shower in the evening if they want to.It is turned on in the morning after a reminder call to them. The water was lukewarm and the room was freezing. We were so tired and thought we will just doze off and not notice the cold but it was too cold to even sleep, we barely managed to catch a few hours sleep only.

The rooms arent heated so you have to request for them to provide a heater which doesnt do much to heat the room up properly. The beds are hard and uncomfortable and bedding is filthy. They have a doona which they provide in the rooms but it smelt horrible, we had no choice but to use it. A word of warning, when you leave the room you have to be extra careful not to leave the door or windows open even for one minute, the monkeys are a nuisance. I almost had one grab my handbag from my room. One tends to wonder if they are trained to do so

If you have travelled around India you wouldve noticed the lack of toilet paper in some hotels, its best to carry your own:) You will only find toilet papers in 5 & 4 star hotels and if you are lucky then in the others. I would stock my bag up with it in advance. Usually you can buy them from the chemists and trust me it comes in handy at all times.

Unfortunately, I didnt end up taking any snaps of this hotel so its obvious how much I disliked it. Due to lack of sleep I was very grumpy the next day after staying there and swore to pay a little extra and stay in nice, clean and warm hotels.
